10 Things to Do in Central Texas This December - Texas MedClinic Urgent Care

Living here, we all know Central Texas has so much to offer year-around, but as we approach Christmas, there’s a seasonal increase and a range of activities you and your guests won’t want to miss out on! So, gather up your family and friends! We hope our short list of things we love to do in December inspires you to get out of the house.

Here’s 10 seasonal activities taking place in Austin this month:

-The Trail of Lights in Zilker Park, right outside of downtown Austin, is a one mile walk through dazzling light displays. The tree lighting is something you won’t want to miss either.

-Austin’s holiday sing-along and downtown stroll is another event worth attending. It includes a meander down Austin’s Congress Avenue lined with galleries, stores and restaurants where you can enjoy carols, live entertainment and free food. At the end, there’s an opportunity to support the Central Texas Good Bank under the Capitol Tree.

-The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar is a shopping experience with aisles for dancing, artwork and merchants.

-Operation Blue Santa is an opportunity to align with the Austin Police Department as they spread Christmas cheer to thousands of Austin children in need.

-A Christmas Affair, put on by the Junior League, brings together more than 200 national merchants and 30,000 shoppers for one unforgettable holiday event!

-Ice skate outdoors (even in Texas!) on the rooftop patio at Whole Foods. Admission includes your skate rental too.

-Attend Ballet Austin’s The Nutcracker

-Visit the Gingerbread Village at the Four Seasons created by their pastry chefs and on display in the lobby

-Check out the Mozart’s Holiday Light Show on site at their Lake Austin coffee shop on the outdoor deck. It’s one of the best places in town to catch spectacular holiday lights.

-Luminations at the Wildflower Center is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. It’s free with two canned food items too. Here you’ll have a chance to wander around the gardens and listen to various musical arts from local artists and schools.

There’s obviously many more ways you can spend your December excursions, but hopefully this will get you started! For more information on all of these events and to plan ahead, check them out online.

Enjoy the holidays and cherish your loved ones. We think it’s a magical time of year, full of sights and sounds to delight just about anyone. And, we hope you agree.

Happy December!
