![]() Texas MedClinic contracts with full and part-time physicians. PHYSICIAN INFORMATION:
Texas MedClinic is seeking personable, well-rounded physicians to practice in a professionally and financially rewarding setting. Enjoy the clinical practice of medicine, without the management and administrative headaches. TMC clinic continues to growth by two methods, increasing the number of clinics, and increasing the patient volume at existing clinics. To support this growth, we are interested in adding qualified physicians to our group. Qualified physicians must be board certified in a specialty area, such as Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Med/Pediatrics, Occupational Medicine, or another area.
Texas MedClinic is owned and managed by physicians, who continue to remain actively involved in clinical practice. The perspective of the practicing physician is thereby integral to each business decision we make. It is not just the “bean counters” who determine staffing level, equipment purchases etc… but a colleague, who is open to reasoned expressions of need and concern Each physician is expected to treat patients across the age range from very young (usually greater than six weeks) to the elderly, though Medicare is less than 2% of our total patient count by volume. We provide Urgent Care services (respiratory complaints, strains, sprains, breaks, lacerations, incision and drainage, lump and bump removal etc…) and Occupational Medicine services. We are not providers of longitudinal care for chronic medical problems, such as Diabetes, Hypertension or Hyperlipidemia. Few physicians when they start with us have wide experience in all these areas. We are able to provide a supportive clinical environment however in which physicians can pick up any additional needed skills. Our focus is on hiring full-time physicians, who typically work about 40 hours per week. Physicians usually have a set schedule Monday through Friday, which includes one day off. On the remaining four days, they will work one of several shifts, depending on the needs of the clinic where they are assigned. All physicians also work four weekend shifts per month, which are scheduled around family or personal needs and availability, and as such, vary each month. Shifts Monday through Friday include 8-5, 9-5, 10-6 or 12-8 (depends on location) and 4-11. Thus a maximally staffed clinic will have four physicians on a given day. Weekend shifts include 8-3, 10-6 and 3-11. While most physicians have a set schedule and location, we also hire “floating” physicians, who have a variable schedule. Physicians are independent contractors, rather than employees, and as such are able to establish and control their own Self-employed pension funds. Reimbursement is incentive based, thus maximally benefiting those with a strong work ethic. TMC has been successful in negotiating favorable contracts with all the large managed care companies in the region. One direct result of these contracts is better pay for physicians. In fact the net pay to physicians is generally much better than in primary practice, particularly when one considers the TMC workload of 40 hours per week. Malpractice is covered by the company, and it is not necessary to purchase tail, if a physician decides to leave. There are no contracts, which historically benefit the organizations sponsoring them rather than the individual doctor.
